Read Across America

The winter olympics may be coming to a close but the race to win gold in Greenwood Elementary's Olympic AR Challenge is just beginning! Starting Monday, Feb. 26th each class will compete against their grade level to earn the most AR points. Get ready to read and go for the gold! The competition ends March 29th!


The Sixth Grade Safety Patrol and Fifth Grade Service Students will be attending the Zembo Shrine Circus on Friday, March 23rd.

End of Quarter 3

Q3 will end on Tuesday, March 27th (pending any loss of days due to weather)

Spring Break

School will NOT be in session on Friday, March 30th for Spring Break (School WILL be in session on Monday, April 2nd as a make-up day)

Art Room News

YOUTH ART DAY will be held April 7th from 11:00-3:00 at Greenwood high school.

PSSA Testing

PSSA Testing (Math) for Grades 3-6 will be held during the week of April 16.

PSSA Testing (Science) for Grade 4 will be held April 24 & 25.

PSSA Testing (English/Language) for Grades 3-6 will be held during the week of April 9.

Students get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast and avoid absence from school during testing periods.

Emergency Information Weather and Emergency Announcements

In the event of inclement weather or an emergency situation, Greenwood School District takes every precaution to ensure the safety of students. Our number one priority is always the safety and security of students and staff.

The school district will keep the community informed through the School Messenger System and through the following radio and TV stations.

The school district’s School Messenger Telephone Messaging System can rapidly alert parents of weather-related school closures or changes in start or dismissal times. The system is programmed to call the home phone number that parents/guardians have listed on their emergency contact record.

SMS Text Notifications - Notices such as school closings and delays are one example of the type of messages which will be sent via text. You can text the letter Y to 68453 to Opt In. **your cell # must be listed in the School Messenger System to receive text messages.
